The wall was built in 1607 next to the Church of San Juanes. Only this old wall with its Baroque lines remains of the former archbishop's palace. It is a masonry construction with semicircular turrets crowned with blue ceramic tiles.
Inside, it housed a botanical garden, one of the first botanical gardens in Spain, the first of a university nature, and the oldest in Europe. It is claimed to be the place where peanuts were first cultivated in Spain.
Its condition deteriorated progressively, so its preservation was deemed important due to its historical and architectural significance (Baroque style), and it was restored in 1999.
The most recent work on the wall was carried out at the end of 2016, and since January 2017, it has featured nighttime lighting and accessible entrances.
