At Puçol Town Hall, we want to be transparent about the cookies and similar technologies we use on this website. This Cookie Policy explains what they are, which ones we use, for what purpose, and how you can manage them at any time.
This Policy complements our [Privacy Policy](/privacy-policy) and should be read in conjunction with it.
1. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your device (computer, mobile phone, or tablet) when you visit it. Cookies allow the site to remember information about your visit, such as your preferred language or accessibility preferences, which can make your next visit easier and the site more useful to you.
In this Policy, when we talk about "cookies" we also refer to other similar technologies (such as browser local storage, or LocalStorage) that perform the same technical function.
2. Applicable legal framework
The use of cookies on this site is governed by:
- The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) EU 2016/679, regarding personal data.
- Organic Law 3/2018 on the Protection of Personal Data and Guarantee of Digital Rights (LOPDGDD).
- Article 22.2 of Law 34/2002 on Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce (LSSI-CE), modified by Royal Decree-Law 13/2012.
- The Guide on the use of cookies from the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) in its current version.
3. Types of cookies we use
We only use cookies and technologies strictly necessary for the operation of the site and, with your consent, our own web analytics tool. **We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies for marketing purposes, or user profiling for data sales.**
3.1. Strictly necessary cookies
They are essential for the site to function correctly. **They do not require your prior consent** in accordance with Article 22.2 of the LSSI-CE (Spanish Law on Information Society Services and Electronic Commerce), and you cannot disable them because the site would not function without them.
| Name | Purpose | Guy | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| `NEXT_LOCALE` | Remember the chosen language (es / va / en) | Own | Session |
| Accessibility LocalStorage | Remember the font size and high contrast mode settings | Own | Persistent (until the user deletes them) |
| Cloudflare Turnstile Captcha Token | Verify that you are not a bot when submitting public forms (Inbox, Surveys) | Third | Form session |
| Itinerary Local Storage | Save the milestones you add to your itinerary to your device | Own | Persistent |
| LocalStorage of "Explora Puçol" | Save on your device which landmarks you physically visited for gamification | Own | Persistent |
| LocalStorage for consent (`pucol-consent`) | Remembers your cookie and analytics preferences so we don't ask you again on every visit. | Own | Persistent (12 months) |
3.2. Analytics cookies (require consent)
We use a self-hosted web analytics tool called **Umami** to understand which tourism content is most useful and improve the user experience. It is only activated if you give us your explicit consent via the banner.
| Aspect | Detail |
|---|---|
| Supplier | Umami — free software self-hosted by the City Council |
| Server | City Council's own infrastructure, within the European Union |
| Does it use cookies? | **Does not use persistent cookies.** Generates temporary identifiers that are renewed every 24 hours using a cryptographic hash with salt, making tracking over time impossible. |
| Does it collect your IP address? | Your IP address is used solely to determine your country of origin and is immediately discarded. **It is not logged.** |
| Personal data? | It does not identify individuals. It does not use device fingerprinting. |
| Data shared with third parties? | **No.** All information remains on the City Council's servers |
| Data retention | 12 months, after which they are added or removed |
Anonymous statistical information collected: pages visited and approximate time, language chosen, country of origin, type of device and browser, and non-personal tourist interactions (milestones added to itineraries, 360° scenes viewed, download of itineraries in PDF, playback of the AI video, completion of the "Explore Puçol" gamification, language changes).
3.3. Functionality cookies (require consent)
Certain site functionalities depend on external services that may process data. These services will only load if you give your explicit consent via the banner.
| Service | Supplier | Purpose | Processing location |
|---|---|---|---|
| Interactive maps | Google Maps Platform | Geographic visualization of tourist landmarks | United States (Data Privacy Framework) |
| 2D cartographic tiles | OpenStreetMap Foundation | Alternative maps without Google | United Kingdom / Netherlands |
| AI-powered route generator | OpenAI L.L.C. | Generate personalized recommendations based on your preferences | United States (Data Privacy Framework) |
If you reject functionality cookies, these integrations will not load and the corresponding functionalities will not be available during your visit.
4. Summary table of categories
| Category | Does it require consent? | Can you refuse it? | What happens if you reject it? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | No | No (they are essential) | Not applicable |
| Analysis (Umami) | Yeah | Yeah | The City Council does not receive statistics about your visit |
| Functionality (Maps, AI) | Yeah | Yeah | You will not be able to use advanced maps or the AI route generator |
5. How to manage your preferences?
5.1. Upon entering the site for the first time
The first time you visit the site, we show you a banner where you can:
- Accept all categories and enjoy all features.
- Accept only those that are strictly necessary and browse with analytics and external integrations disabled.
- Personalize your selection by activating or deactivating each category separately.
5.2. Change your preferences later
You can change your decision at any time by clicking on the "Cookie Preferences" link permanently available in the website footer.
5.3. From your browser
Additionally, you can configure your browser to block or delete cookies. Each browser has its own documentation.

6. International data transfers
When you accept functionality cookies, some data may be transferred to providers outside the European Economic Area (primarily the United States). These transfers are carried out under:
- The EU-US Adequacy Decision (Data Privacy Framework) of July 10, 2023.
- Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission when the above decision does not apply.
The web analytics tool (Umami) does not perform any international transfers because it operates exclusively on the City Council's infrastructure within the European Union.

When changes significantly affect the use of cookies (addition of a new category, change of analytics provider, etc.), we will inform you through:
- A prominent notice on the website's homepage for at least thirty calendar days.
- Renewal of consent on your next visit if you have given consent for categories affected by the change.
The date of the last update will always be visible at the beginning of the document.
